The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) is a specialised programme designed to equip students with essential skills for the modern workplace while completing their traditional
Leaving Certificate with a fresh emphasis on self-directed learning, entrepreneurship, work experience, and community engagement.
Structure of LCVP:
The LCVP combines academic study with a focus on practical experience. Students take two main components as part of the LCVP:
Link Modules:
- Preparation for the World of Work This module covers career planning, job
- seeking skills (CV writing, interview techniques), work placement, and research into various industries.
- Enterprise Education:Students are introduced to entrepreneurship and how businesses operate. They may engage in mini-enterprises, visits to local companies, or guest speaker events.
Leaving Certificate Subjects:
In addition to the Link Modules, students complete the full Leaving Certificate with a required combination of subjects that fall under Vocational Subject Groupings

The LCVP aims to:
- Equip students with the skills and competencies required for both the workplace and further
education.
- Provide a practical, hands-on approach to learning that focuses on teamwork, problem-solving, and
research skills.
- Foster entrepreneurial thinking and career planning, preparing students for real-world challenges.

Assessment and Certification:
LCVP is assessed through a combination of portfolio work (60%) and a written exam (40%), with students earning points that can be used towards their CAO application. The final grades are awarded as:

Connecting with the Community: Student Initiatives and Visits:
Over the past several years, students have organised 5K runs and a tea party, as well as visits to local companies, including a seaweed factory and Crolly Distillery.
